Domestic sampling - Construction

With a 30-year track record in domestic sampling, the Geodrill team is one of the most experienced in South Australia. In the Domestic and Construction fields we provide continous core sampling, Dutch Cone Penetrometer Tests (DCP's), Suction Wrap Sampling and CBR bulk sampling.

Primarily we conduct sampling on residential construction sites for new structures, additions and swimming pools using a fleet of 8 Toyota Rockmaster Rigs. Hand-held drilling equipment is used for sites that are inaccessible to vehicles or where terrain is particularly difficult. We can also provide a logging service if required.

Domestic & Production Bores - Bores

We are experienced in drilling domestic water bores and rural production bores to any depth as well as decommissioning bore holes.

Geotechnical Engineering Testing

Using the latest sampling and probing equipment, we can deliver a wide range of Geotechnical sampling methods including continous cores samples using solid and hollow augers, Conventional and Wireline Split Spoon Core barrell sampling and conduct Standard Penetration & Friction Cone Tests to any depth.

Our state-of-the-art equipment offers a range of capabilities ensuring that we can select the best sampling method to meet your needs. We are able to take samples at various depths and locations - no matter how challenging - before providing them in appropriate form for testing and analysis.

Some recent Geotechnical drilling projects Geodrill has been involved in include: the South Rd/ Anzac Highway Overpass for Transport Services; and the Bakewell Bridge redevelopment for both Coffey Geosciences & Transport services.

Geodrill was recently commissioned to conduct a series of Geotechnical Cone Penetrometer Tests around the Bakewell Bridge for Coffey Geoscience. This has provided essential Geotechnical data used in the Engineering of the new Bakewell Bridge construction.

We have also been engaged by Transport Services to install Fixed Point Benchmarks at two locations near the existing bridge for future Surveying application.

Fixed point bench-marking

Installing Benchmarks for the Bakewell Bridge redevelopment project.

Geodrill's expertise and equipment are available for the establishment of fixed-point benchmarking for surveying, mapping and other applications.

The company has drilled and constructed standard deep benchmarks and deep permanent survey marks to provide sound, purpose-created permanent landmarks to assist Transport SA in its construction and maintenance of such projects as the Southern Expressway, Gillman River Crossing and the Carrieton to Hawker Highway.

Environmental sampling

Demand for our environmental sampling service and expertise has grown in line with strong demand for housing and development in inner-urban Adelaide in the past decade.

Our samples have been used in the remediation planning of several development sites in Adelaide including the sporting facilities and housing now well established on the formerly degraded site of the Mile End Railyards and the award winning Islington Workshops Remediation Project.

We have an extensive range of drilling rigs and Drilling equipment which enables Geodrill to choose the right tools and machinery to complete every job.

Furthermore, our trailers are fully equipped with high-pressure cleaning equipment to eliminate any possibility of cross-contamination during environmental sampling.

We also have the expertise and equipment to construct wells to any depth, offering engineers an unrivalled groundwater sampling and monitoring service.

We have two 1,000 Litre water tanks kitted with bilge pumps to provide water for cleaning equipment in remote locations. We also have a 'Spillsafe' bunted mat, equipped with A fully enclosed 2m high wash bay area for containment of polluted cleaning water if required. This means any consolidated soils or off-spray from push tubes rods and augers can be appropriately contained within the spill safe area. The polluted cleaning water can then be safely pumped out of the 'pond' into appropriate storage containers.

Wherever possible we want to save you money without compromising quality product and service, thereby assisting you in these competitive times. With this philosophy guiding our product selection, we have sourced a range of reliable Drilling equipment and consumable suppliers. We endeavour to source local consumables of the highest quality and affordability for the construction of Environmental Water, Gas Monitoring Wells and Production Bores.

All our well materials adhere to Australian standards and we pride ourselves in our ability to provide materials for any specific construction requirements you may have at a competitive price and on an immediate time frame.

Major environmental sampling projects the firm has undertaken include:

Mile End Sporting and Housing Development

The rehabilitation of a large derelict site located on a major gateway to the city centre. An athletics stadium and a netball stadium have been constructed on the site, and a housing development of 60 allotments is well advanced. Geodrill took several soil samples across the contaminated site to assist the remediation planning process.

Islington Railyard Remediation Project

The clean up of the Islington dumpsite, a 12-hectare area of land adjacent to the former Islington Railway Workshops, involved identifying and containing contaminated material on the site before transforming the former wasteland into a landscaped park with walking trails, native trees and shrubs, a carpark and lighting.

Caltex Spotswood Depot

Caltex Spotswood Depot

Geodrill was commissioned by the investigating engineers to undertake drilling at the Caltex Spotswood Depot in Melbourne, providing accurate samples for testing ahead of the site's remediation and redevelopment.

More recent significant Environmental projects Geodrill has been involved in include the new Lead and Zinc Mine site for Terramin Australia near Strathalbyn. We have been engaged to conduct a series of Ground Water Monitoiring Wells for the Mine site using a combination of Rotary and Air Hammer and Mud Drilling techniques to depths of up to 80 metres.
